UPDATE FROM RTSL PRESIDENT TR. TUSHAR AMALEAN

Dear Tablers, Circlers, 41ers, Past Tablers, Activians, Apexians, Donors and Friends,

Its been a long time since I have written an update on our Regaining The Smile (RTS) project. The progress has been excellent on the school construction of Hegalle Mahavidyalaya in Kosgoda. We have completed the Three Storey Senior Section of the school in the rear land of the site and are moving the school children in this building immediately after the Singhalese (Local) New Year Holidays which ends on 24th April 2006. I have included some of the pictures of my last visit to the school on 2nd March 2006. By now the complete structure is finished and my next visit is due on this Thursday 30th March 2006. I will be able to email more pictures after then.

After the Holidays we will begin demolishing the old Tsunami affected remaining structures in the front, where presently the school children are studying and begin construction of the Two Storey Primary Section buildings.

The Total cost of this school which includes Classrooms for 1,600 children, Laboratory and Other Curriculum Facilities, Auditorium and Sports facilities is estimated to be around US$1.4 Million. We have so far collected US$1 Million from our beloved donors. We urge all our donors to help us in whatever way they can to support us with bridging the balance of US$400,000 to complete this school. We have committed ourself to make our donors proud to be associated with a project which will not only bring them the satisfaction of their name being written down in the history as an excellent donor but also being the support for the Tsunami affected children's future in education.

The visitors during our ATSUMARI and PACART meeting last month expressing their feeling and gratitude to the children during their visit to the school is the only thing we at RTSL (Round Table Sri Lanka) can ask for. We urge other donors to visit us whenever they can and experience this themselves.
