· 12th August 2005 - Final Acquisition
latter reaches the President of The Democratic Republic of Sri Lanka
for approval.
· 28th July 2005 - RTSL visits the new land
with the Architects.
· 22nd July 2005 - RTSL receives Survey
Plan from The Director, Southern Province, MOE for the new land.
· 20th July 2005 - RTSL visits the identified
land and also visits The Director, Southern Province, MOE to follow-up
the survey plan of the land.
· June 2005 - RTSL & Coca Cola holds
discussion with MOE and follows up on land acquisition formalities.
RTSL & Coca Cola follows up with the relevant local authorities
in the Southern Province to expedite acquisition formalities and
seek a Survey plan of the land to start Architectural drawings for
the new school.
· May 2005 - RTSL & Coca Cola holds
discussions with MOE for seeking information on acquisition of the
land by the MOE.
· 6th April 2005 - RTSL visits the school
and learns that a donor is willing to give his land for reconstruction
of the school to The Ministry of Education.
· March 2005 - Discussions held with MOE
for seeking information on any proposed land for the school.
· 22nd February 2005 - Meeting with The
Director, Southern Province, Ministry of Education in Galle to seek
information of the any new land allocation.
· 12nd February 2005 - RTSL learns that
the school premises falls within the 200 mtrs restricted zone for
construction declared by The Government. This school will need new
land and will be relocated. Search for the new land begins by the
School Principal and Vice Principal.
· 11th February 2005 - RTSL & Coca Cola
sign a MOU between each party at a small low profile ceremony.
· 10nd February 2005 - RTSL visited the
school and had preliminary discussion with Principal & Vice
Principal.
· 7th February 2005 - MOU Signed with The
Ministry of Education (MOE) by RTSL & Coca Cola.
· 2nd February 2005 - RTSL visits the choice
of four schools in Southern region offered to Coca Cola by the Ministry
of Education for consideration for reconstruction affected by Tsunami.
Two of the schools were found to be very small schools besides the
fact that they were situated within the 200 mtrs buffer zone restriction
of any construction declared by the government. One school was found
not destructed by the Tsunami. While Mahamayake Balika Vidyalaya
was found to be the appropriate school within the budget of US$500,000
and very much suitable in size to be reconstructed with partnership
between RTSL & Coca Cola. RTSL suggested and recommended this
school to Coca Cola for partnership which was agreed.
· 31st January 2005 - RTSL meets Mr. Vijay
Bhasker Reddy and Mr. Lakshman Peiris, Head of Marketing for Sri
Lanka, Coca Cola at dinner to discuss further on the partnership.
Coca Cola offered US$500,000 for Tsunami destroyed rebuilding schools
in Sri Lanka.
· 12th January 2005 - Project “Regaining
The Smile” (RTS) is finalised and RTSL decides to take part
in rebuilding Tsunami destroyed schools. RTSL writes to Coca Cola
representatives Mr. Ashok Namboodiri and Mr Vijay Bhasker Reddy,
General Manager - Corporate Affairs in India seeking support in
funding their project RTS.
· 31st December 2004 - Mail received from
Tr.A.V.Inder, Area Chairman, RT India, Area - 9 briefing of offer
from Coca-Cola in India to help rebuild Tsunami destroyed school
in Sri Lanka. Tr. Inder introduced RTSL to Coca-Cola as well as
vice versa.
