The Ministry of Education
has accepted RTSL proposal to combine this school with another school
in the vicinity Thiranagama Bodhiraja Mahavidyalaya.
· 27th March 2006 - RTBI sponsored Thiranagama Bodhiraja Mahavidyalaya. As you have already learnt the 60 children of Tsunami affected school Patuwatha Lanka Sabha are now being accommodated in Thiranagama Bodhiraja Mahavidyalaya. This school is located just 600 mtrs away from Patuwatha Lanka Sabha inland accommodating 550 children in very old classrooms. RTSL (Round Table Sri Lanka) has agreed to rebuild Thiranagama Bodhiraja Mahavidyalaya at the cost of GBP280,000 which will accommodate 800 children

· August 2005 - Architectural Plans are
being made.
· 28th July 2005 - RTSL visited Thiranagama
Bodhiraja Mahavidyalaya with the Architects and to study the requirements
for the upgrading.
· 25th July 2005 - RTSL visited The Director,
Southern Province, MOE and received a copy of the available Survey
plan of Thiranagama Bodhiraja Mahavidyalaya.
· 22nd July 2005 - RTSL received official
letter from MOE to reconstruct classrooms for Thiranagama Bodhiraja
Mahavidyalaya to accommodate Patuwatha Lanka Sabha children.
· 20th July 2005 - RTSL visited with RTBI
visiting tablers. The Director, Southern Province, MOE proposed
this school to be amalgamated with Thiranagama Bodhiraja Mahavidyalaya
approximately 700 mtrs away from Patuwatte Lanka Sabha. Thiranagama
Bodhiraja Mahavidyalaya is school not affected by Tsunami and accommodates
approx 500 children. Large extent of land is available for reconstruction
and development. 104 primary children of Patuwatte Lanka Sabha can
be accommodated in this school. RTSL was requested to upgrade the
classroom facilities of Bodhiraja Mahavidyalaya.
· 7th June 2005 - Discussion with MOE on
any land allocation. RTSL suggested to consider amalgamating this
school with some other school in the vicinity.
· May 2005 - Discussions held with MOE for
seeking update on any land allocation.
· 6th April 2005 - RTBI Tablers visited
the school to confirm of their funding for the complete school
· March 2005 - Discussions held with MOE
for seeking information on any proposed land for the school.
· 22nd February 2005 - Meeting with The Director,
Southern Province, Ministry of Education in Galle to seek information
of the any new land allocation.
· 12th February 2005 - RTSL revisited the
school to study details of requirements and suggested to have the
parents of the school children involved in searching for a suitable
land for the new school.
· 10nd February 2005 - RTSL visited the
school and had preliminary discussion with Principal & Vice
Principal. New land was offered for reconstruction of school. RTSL
visited the proposed land. It was found to be marshy land with over
6 feet of land filling and filled land settlement of months, probably
years before school foundation could be built. The delay and cost
of the filling the land was unfavourable conditions. RTSL rejected
the proposed land and informed to the MOE.
· 7th February 2005 - MOU Signed with The Ministry
of Education.
· 2nd February 2005 - RTSL visited the school
to access the destruction.
· 31st January 2005 - Meeting with The Ministry
of Education (MEO) to update on progress of Hegalle Mahavidyalaya
and Punitha Arulanandar Vidyalaya. The progress was more than expected
by MOE therefore RTSL was offered more schools for reconstruction.
Patuwatta Lanka Sabha was offered to RTSL.
